On the North Olympic Peninsula of Washington State, you always have options when looking for musical entertainment. However, most bands lack the impact of having a live “big band” sound, that one thing that creates a pleasurable atmosphere more than anything else.
The Olympic Express Big Band definitely makes a “statement” about your good taste and style that no DJ or the typical “four guys with guitars” can match.
The “Olympic Express Big Band” was formed in the spring of 2008 to fulfill a vision of a few local area musicians. They wanted to gather the finest players on the Olympic Peninsula to create a high caliber, “take no prisoners” musical ensemble who would perform tough, challenging arrangements, many written by the entertainment industry’s preeminent arrangers and composers.
The band would play the best of the dance tunes spanning the years from the early 1900’s and on into the 2000’s. To accomplish this, they would need to amass a vast musical library that included the most popular dance tunes from each of the decades targeted.
The results? – “Mission accomplished”.
The Olympic Express repertoire now includes the entire collection of the classic top hits, whether they are classified as Big Band Swing, Standards, Business Man’s Bounces, Dixieland, Rock & Roll, Jazz, Motown, or Boogie Woogie. It is a musical assemblage of songs that number well over 5000 paper arrangements with thousands of others available in digital format.
From this sizeable collection of tunes, the musical director selects and customizes the band’s set lists for each of our playing engagements in order to provide the proper mix of styles, tempos and genres that each client is seeking.
The band is currently configured as a 18-piece ensemble which can be augmented with a male or female vocalist that will provide an elegant and sophisticated touch to your wedding reception, birthday or anniversary party, fundraiser, outdoor concert, corporate event, dinner dance, or community social gathering.
